Mushing Sports Contest will be held on March 7th in the Ob' town – satellite-town of Novosibirsk. As Wikipedia says, mushing is a general term for a sport or transport method powered by dogs, and includes carting, pulka, scootering, sled dog racing, skijoring, freighting, and weight pulling. Siberian and Alaskan Huskies, Malamutes and Samoyeds will compete in two sports: sled dog racing (dogs + driver + sled) and skijoring (dog + skier). And in two distances: 1'500 m and 2'500 m. It is the first event of its kind in Novosibirsk region. Organizing committee says that contest will be regular. Contest will be held in Chaika Sport Center in Ob' town, that is located just near Novosibirsk – 15 km from the city center – by the road to Tolmachevo Airport. The short opening ceremony is planned for 1 pm. On the same day, on the same location, but one hour earlier, Novosibirsk Regional Ski Contest will be opened. So, next Sunday you have a good chance to watch two different Siberian sports. |
