The Siberian capital Novosibirsk was the first among the Russian cities to begin art preparations for Christmas this year. The International Christmas Festival of Arts, which will run in Novosibirsk until December 10th, opened there on December 2nd . The Christmas festival is organized in Novosibirsk, which is the third in significance city in Russia with a population exceeding 1.5 million people for the 9th time now. Theatre and music lovers are invited to see drama and ballet performances, exhibitions of paintings and decorative and applied arts, and also concerts of classical music. And everything that is included in the programmes is top-level artistic work. The Novosibirsk audience is demanding: the point is that Novosibirsk is one of the main intellectual cities in Russia, and the famous scientific campus, where the Russian scientific elite lives, is located in Novosibirsk too. The ballet staged by the famous French choreographer Roland Petit “Carmen” in the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre has opened the festival this year and closing it will be the production of the Moscow Vakhtangov Theatre, one of the best in the country, “Dyadya Vanya” (Uncle Ivan), based on the well-known play by Anton Chekhov. |
